A 20-year-old woman who went missing from Clifton yesterday afternoon was found safe and well in Arlesey following more than four hours of searching.

Police were called at 5pm, with concerns raised for the welfare of the woman – who had gone missing wearing a black dress, a jacket and no shoes.

A massive search ensued, with a police helicopter and members of the public joining the efforts to locate the missing woman in both Clifton and the surrounding villages.

A Beds police spokeswoman said the woman was ultimately found safe and well at about 9.30pm near Arlesey railway station – about two miles from Clifton.
