POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car roof was stolen from a convertible this week.

The owners of a Mazda MX 5 awoke yesterday (Thursday) to discover that the hard roof had been removed from their convertible while the car was parked on their drive in Green Lane, Letchworth GC.

The theft occurred some time between 7.30pm on Wednesday and 7.30am yesterday morning.

PC Lisa Brazier, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was an audacious crime which has occurred after offender(s) have gained access to the car and unclipped the roof. It has caused the owners a lot of inconvenience. I am appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward.”
