A man has died after falling from a bridge near Hitchin.

The ambulance service and police were called to the A505 near Offley at around 8.30pm last night.

Despite their best efforts to help him, the man in his 50s sadly died at the scene.

A police spokeswoman told the Comet that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The details are being referred to the coroner, with an inquest to open in due course to establish the cause of death.
