A community radio station operating out of a converted garage is to make a splash with live commentaries of Hitchin Town FC games.

Canaries home matches will be broadcast live on North Herts FM, an online station set up just three months ago.

Hitchin Town executive committee member Kate Deller said: “We approached North Herts FM because we’ve always felt radio coverage of our games would benefit Hitchin Town supporters who have difficulty attending the ground because of either disability or transport issues.

“We are very excited at the prospect of supplementing our Twitter commentary with local, live commentary of our home games.”

North Herts FM’s Becky Phillips said: “We want North Herts FM to be an invaluable resource for the community, and this is one of the ways we can make that happen. It’s very ambitious project for a small, new radio station but we determined to make it work. It will be a big boost to the club and North Herts FM.”
