A man was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after a concern-for-welfare incident in a country lane between Hitchin and Stevenage.

Police this morning told the Comet they were called to Blakemore End Road, between Little Wymondley and Redcoats Green, at about 3.20pm after a man “reportedly caused injury to himself”.

Officers closed off the road while they and paramedics attended to the man, who was taken to hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for the Herts force said his injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
