PUPILS from two schools have donated their harvests to a community project.
The Grange Junior School and Norton St Nicholas C of E Primary School in Letchworth GC both held food harvest festivals last week and handed over the collections to Letchworth Foodbank on Monday.
A service was held by Father Darren from St George’s Church to mark the occasion, where pupils sang songs and shared prayers.
Grange School headteacher Heather Anderson said: “It is good that we are able to work together as schools to support the local church with the foodbank in order to make a real difference to those in our local community.”
Letchworth Foodbank, set up to feed local people in crisis, launched on Tuesday following a food collection at the town’s Sainsbury’s store.
More than 800kg of food was donated by shoppers and Letchworth Foodbank manager Jill Thomson said: “We want to say a big thank you to all those who gave their food or their time on Thursday. It is people like you who make this possible, thank you.”
