The safer neighbourhood team consists of PCSOs and PCs working within the community to improve quality of live and make the area safer by tackling crime.

PCSO Chris Farrier – who has worked for the constabulary for five years – will now be taking on Baldock, having previously looked after Letchworth, but will be retaining the Jackmans estate.

Chris said: “I’m really looking forward to a new challenge and meeting new people, but it’s great to retain some familiarity through looking after Jackmans.

“I am hoping that through my presence in Baldock and Jackmans I will help to prevent crime while providing reassurance to residents.”

Michelle Trussell, who has been a PCSO for 10 years, said: “I have really enjoyed working in Baldock as the people in the town have a great sense of community spirit, particularly at the community centre.

“I am looking forward to starting in Letchworth, getting to know the people and keeping levels of anti-social behaviour low.

“In particular I want to improve information sharing between the police and businesses by invigorating Business Watch – an initiative which helps to fight crime targeted at businesses by encouraging them to keep an eye out for each other and report anything suspicious to police.”

North Herts Chief Insp Julie Wheatley said: “We have a strong team of PCs and PCSOs working in the North Herts safer neighbourhood teams who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and I’m pleased that Chris and Michelle are taking on new challenges by changing the areas they have responsibility for.

“A large amount of a PCSO’s time is spent out on the streets in their areas, speaking with residents and providing a visual deterrent to criminals.”
