James Bay, a former student at Hitchin Boys’ School, will be competing for the prestigious Brits Critics Choice award at a star-studded ceremony taking place on February 25.

The 24-year-old’s mother Jill Bay said: “He has worked so hard and is so busy. I am so proud of him and his brother Alex, who is also a musician.

“I think you need a bit of luck, but I am so proud of both of them.”

James has so far released three EPs – The Dark of The Morning in 2013, as well as Let It Go and latest effort Hold Back the River, both this year.
