There was a heavy police presence around a garden centre on the edge of Hitchin yesterday afternoon while officers searched for a missing man.

Police told the Comet this morning they had been looking for a man who had been reported missing and was believed to be in the area of Hitchin’s Wyevale Garden Centre, off Cambridge Road.

“He was found safe and well a short time later,” a spokeswoman for the Herts force said.
