A family festival in Hitchin has raised money for charity while also bringing fun for all to the town.
Diddy Rascals held their first family festival in the grounds of Hitchin Priory last weekend – with more than 1,000 people in attendance – raising £7,000 for the Humanitas Charity.
The money raised from the event will go towards the charity’s foster care programme for children in Romania and supporting a school in Ghana.
Event organiser Genevieve Jones-Hernandez spoke of her delight at the success of the festival and the amount raised.
“The day was a huge success and we raised £7,000 for Humanitas which is brilliant,” said Genevieve.
“We are thrilled that so many Hitchin families came to enjoy the Diddy Rascals experience.”
Festival-goers were entertained by live music and a magical fairy garden, among other attractions, with food provided by Hitchin chef Martin Burke.
Genevieve was also keen to thank the festival volunteers and made a promise about next year’s event.
She said: “We couldn’t have done it without our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly before and on the day. I would like to say a huge thank you to them for all of their efforts.
“Next year’s festival will be bigger and better!”
