A FLIPPING good time was had by all as pancakes were tossed and consumed in Comet country.

The weather was bad on Saturday but that did not stop people enjoying themselves at a fun day in Hitchin Market Place where pancakes, hot dogs and mulled wine were on sale.

There were lots of other activities at the event organised by Hitchin Priory Rotary Club with Garden House Hospice, Letchworth GC being the main beneficiary of the money raised.

Thirty brave people took part in a fire walk at Hitchin Priory on Saturday evening. It was organised by Jon Boys who heads Success Formulae and the cash raised will go to the hospice.

The weather was kinder on Tuesday when pancake races were keenly contested in Hitchin town centre. Between 40 and 50 competed in five races, some dressed as rabbits and others in miniature fire engines. Once again, the hospice benefited financially.

“We are on target to raise the right side of £10,000 for the hospice,” said Hitchin Priory Rotary president Robert Girvan who declared himself pleased with the annual celebrations.
