Visitors to Hitchin town centre on Saturday had the chance to admire a tank from the First World War.
The machine, belonging to community interest company Landships, was in Market Place to help launch the Herts at War history project’s new Great War exhibition at the British Schools Museum.
The tank was accompanied by the museum’s Andy Gibbs and Landships’ Kevin Jepson, both of whom looked the part in wartime garb.
Dan Hill from Herts at War said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came down and made our launch event so successful. A huge number of people came and saw the tank and visited the exhibition, which was great to see.”
The exhibition at the museum in Queen Street is open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday until November, and includes a free research service to help you find out about your own family’s First World War experiences.
