Walks around Biggleswade and Sandy are set to go ahead as part of the ninth annual Bedfordshire Walking Festival.

The festival – which starts today – will include an informative walk around Biggleswade, starting from Jordans Mill from 10am.

On Tuesday, there will be the opportunity at 10.15am to explore a part of the Shuttleworth estate that is being restored.

The launch of the Sandy Green Wheel walking route will take place on Sunday, September 16, at 2pm.

After the opening ceremony there will be 90-minute walks ideal for families, and a six-mile trek for those feeling a bit more adventurous.

Organiser Barry Ingram said: “One of the most attractive features of the festival is that almost all the walks are free and do not require booking so you can just turn up.”
