Teachers at a village school in North Hertfordshire are celebrating after they received a good rating from Ofsted at an inspection last month.

Preston Primary School maintained its good rating from their previous inspection, and headteacher Mrs Inneke Luitingh told the Comet that inspectors graded 'behaviour and attitudes' at the school as outstanding.

Under the current Ofsted inspection framework, schools are inspected in five different areas, with the lowest grade received used as the overall grade.

Mrs Luitingh said: "At the heart of everything that we do, is our motto: 'love, learn, aspire' and I am delighted that the inspectors were able to see this firsthand.

"As a village school we are very fortunate to enjoy a lovely rural setting, with extensive grounds, providing the children with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning, be that by our wildlife pond, in our outdoor classroom or visiting the local woodland. I am extremely proud of my team and our school each and every day and grateful to be part of such a wonderful community."

Inspectors described the school's curriculum as being "ambitious for what pupils will achieve", and said that teachers constantly seek to find ways to develop the education and experience of their pupils.

They particularly noted that the Pupil Parliament, which helps develops the school's code of conduct and rewards system.

One parent, voicing their joy at the school's success, said: "I'm so thrilled that the headteacher and her fabulous staff have been recognised for all of their hard work. It is thoroughly well deserved, and I couldn't recommend Preston Primary school highly enough!"

Preston Primary School is a junior mixed infant voluntary-controlled primary school, accommodating children aged between four and eleven years old.
