PLANS to proceed with a £1.8m swimming centre revamp have moved a step closer this week.
North Herts District Council’s Cabinet agreed on Tuesday to request more detailed costings on plans to build dance studios, car parking and new changing facilities at Hitchin Swimming Centre.
Officers will report back to councillors at a later date, and decision will eventually be made by Full Council.
At the meeting, Cllr Ian Knighton, portfolio holder for leisure, said: “This is a bonus for the leisure centre and a bonus for the local community.”
Early estimations show that the project could cost up to £1.83m – more than the council has budgeted – but that could change.

The euros one will collapse within months, thus ruining the already dead uk economy. The devastation caused to the uk economy will mean it cannot fund its rolling debt mountain, so the uk will default, thus wiping out everyone's pension, house value and savings. I suggest the council controls it's spending habit and takes a look around before taking the officers 'wouldn't it make you look great to the voters' advice. It's all over, let's not make the future pain even greater.
