The A1(M) has been closed in both directions and the air ambulance called following a serious crash near Welwyn this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports that a motorcyclist had collided with the central reservation on the northbound carriageway near Junction 6 for Welwyn.
A police spokeswoman said: “A full closure has been put in place in both directions while emergency services, including the air ambulance, work at the scene.”
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them via the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference ISR 124 of June.
There are currently long delays heading back towards Hatfield and Stevenage.
