Emergency services are currently at the scene of a crash on the A1(M) near Welwyn.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called at 1.56pm to the southbound carriageway near Junction 6, where at least two vehicles were involved in a collision that has left debris strewn across the road.

The ambulance service sent a rapid response vehicle and paramedics, who treated a man in his 50s for a leg injury before he was taken to Lister Hospital.

The crash has caused tailbacks to Stevenage, as two lanes have been closed to allow one of the vehicles – a white Citroen van – to be recovered.

A Highways England spokesman advised motorists to plan ahead before using the stretch.
