A CAR transporter was stuck under a railway bridge this afternoon (Thursday) causing traffic and train delays.

A silver Renault car transporter got jammed under a bridge on Station Road in Baldock at around 3.50pm.

One car on the transporter was knocked off as a result of the crash, although the vehicles have now been cleared from the scene.

A Network Rail spokesman said engineers have checked the bridge is safe and trains began running again at 4.13pm. There are still delays of up to 20 minutes to the service as a result.
