A driver was lucky to escape with only minor injuries last night after his car left the A1(M) and ended up on its side near Baldock.

A driver was lucky to escape with only minor injuries last night after his car left the A1(M) near Baldock services and ended up on its side.

Emergency crews including police and firefighters were called the southbound slip road of the A1(M) at Junction 10 for Baldock services at 11.19pm after a crash involving a green Lexus.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened near where the motorway meets the A507 near Stotfold.

The Lexus was found on its side amid roadside foliage.

The driver, a man described by police as in his 50s, had already exited the vehicle. He had suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The car was recovered by 2am.
