A NURSE from Comet country has received a national award for her work.
Tracey Smith, who cares for people with Parkinson's disease, picked up the prestigious Nursing Standard's Innovation in Parkinson's Disease Award at a London ceremony.
Tracey, who works for the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, was presented with the award by TV star, Claire Sweeney, in recognition of creating a detailed resource pack crammed with information to help patients, as well as a pill timer which helps patients receive their vital medication when they need it.
Sent to every ward at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City, the pack is set to be rolled out nationally by the Parkinson's Disease Society.
Tracey said: "You can't always change the outcome for patients, but you can improve their experiences."
"It is fantastic having exceptional staff like Tracey working in Hertfordshire," said Sally Pollitt, lead for the Hertfordshire Neurological Service.
