PRINCE Harry tucked in to chicken and chips with Army friends at Nando's on Stevenage Leisure Park.

The Royal was offered his £14.60 meal for free, but the Prince insisted on paying - although he did ask for the 20 per cent discount the chain offers to military personnel.

The 25-year-old ate with 10 Army Air Corps comrades from RAF Henlow, where he had been based after completing basic helicopter training at RAF Shawbury last month.

Each soldier paid for his own food at the meal last week. Prince Harry ordered a chicken breast fillet wrap with corn on the cob and extra cheese, and a chicken breast fillet in pitta bread with a lemon and herb marinade.

He opted for a soft drink and a bottle of Sagres beer, but declined dessert.

Three Royal Protection Officers sat at a separate table close to the front door, and the party stayed for about an hour, leaving around 9pm.

The Prince did not leave a tip.
