A141/A605 Goosetree Junction

After the County Council promised to build a roundabout at this dangerous junction they have decided that they are now considering other alternatives, including traffic lights. So that's 4000 opinion's ignored.

The leader of the Council a few years back rang the parents of a local girl who died in the accident to say that roundabout plans were agreed. You don't renege on promises like that. Maybe the leader should take the time to call them again and explain first hand what has changed.

The problem they cite is the quality of soil in the fens, yet two miles down the road they are planning on building a roundabout at the A1101 Tesco March junction.

At peak times the A141/A605 Goosetree junction and the nearby Chainbrige junction are very dangerous junctions to be at. People regularly pull out hoping, not knowing that it is safe to do so. However on off peak times drivers are going to find it very frustrating sitting at lights when it is clear it is safe to pull out. At peak times I can see lots of congestion. No I am not Nostradamus, just someone who can see the obvious.

It also looks to me as if there is enough land already to build the roundabout. I also note most of our local councillors haven't piped up yet. That's the problem with Party politics and people's seats being too safe. However that's another debate for another day.

I can't believe that the Council has backed down over the junction.

I was first at scene at the accident on Valentines Day five years ago, an episode that will always haunt me.

I just hope that nobody else gets killed at the junction, when the so called "cheap" option is put into effect.
