Letchworth Yellows 1 v Bedwell Rangers 1 - U12 Div 1

Letchworth Yellows and Bedwell Rangers shared the spoils in a very entertaining match at Pixmore. Unfortunately, the game was delayed for thirty minutes near the end by a serious injury to the Bedwell player, Robert Shaw. Both teams showed us adults how to behave as they gave him generous applause as he left the pitch in an ambulance.

Early on, the pressure was all on the Letchworth goal, and the Bedwell number 14 soon found himself in enough space to launch a beautiful shot into the top corner of the Letchworth net. 1-0 Bedwell.

But this was the springboard for Letchworth to buckle down and fight their way back into the game. Several times excellent pressure from Courlander, Leech-Levy, Hancock, and Moore led to chances being created by Letchworth. And slowly, the Letchworth midfield regained its shape and the game became a very tight contest indeed.

Throughout the first half Bedwell kept attacking with every opportunity but the excellent Ryan Gillham was tireless in defence. And close to the end of the half, the Yellows found their excellent play getting the reward it deserved. A lovely chip over the Bedwell defence by Adam Morris was spotted by Alex Garbas and dispatched with aplomb into the Bedwell net. 1-1.

With half time over, the standard of football between both sides was raised yet again.

In the second half, both teams had the opportunity to score but no goals were forthcoming. Another excellent match, and from a Letchworth point of view another big step in their first season in the top flight. Man of the Match – Sam Luck. Goalkeeping of the highest standard.
